What is this upgrade?
It was only just over a month ago when we announced that gamification had come to Contribute Cloud. Now we are ready to tell you all about the latest update to the software which is Collaborative Gamification. Sound interesting? Well, it is really interesting!
But, what does that mean I hear you ask? Well, as I said, just over a month ago, we introduced multi-zone gamification to the software. This gave our users the ability to split a screen into several parts and load educational games into the different sectors on the screen. Then, multiple students could come and use the games on screen at the same time. Hence the name multi-zone and the gamification part comes from making learning into a medium that students recognize – games!
So what is the update mean? Well, now, a teacher can put a student or group of students into collaboration mode, and then push the learning games out to their devices, just like handing out a worksheet. Now, the teacher can choose which students are able to use the activities on their devices. They have total control as students are not able to access the games themselves, they must be enabled by the teacher.
This is a huge step forward for the software. So, breaking this down to how it actually works. Teacher starts a Contribute Cloud session, Students then join. The teacher then puts a selection or all of the students into collaboration mode. Next, the teacher opens up the multi-zone gamification from the tools on the right hand menu. When the teacher drops one or more than one game onto the canvas, it loads for the students too.
The students are able to independently work on the games and the teacher is able to monitor their progress using the Casting preview. They can also bring up the multi-cast preview feature to see exactly how they are getting on or select students to cast up to the LED to show their progress.
How do I get this upgrade and what does it cost?
Ah, the beauty of Cloud-Based software there is nothing for you to do. This update is now live and you can just login into your Contribute Cloud account now and it will be waiting for you. How cool is that! And the cost. You should know by now that we don’t charge for Software Updates so you are all set.

Our one more thing in this instance is that we have added a huge 20+ educational learning games to this version of the software. So now, there are over 40 different learning games that can all be used in multi-zone collaboration.
