What a question! Well, it’s not actually a bad one so let’s take a look at the Pros and Cons of each.

Android Player

Android players do have some benefits and the main thing here is that cost of ownership is much lower than that of their Windows counter parts. What we should point out is that you do need to be looking at the higher end of the market of Android Players. Picking up something from eBay at 20 bucks isn’t going to do it for you. You need a little bit of power to be running signage layouts. We’d recommend a player that is not a stick as they overheat and also something that runs the RK3399 chip. This is powerful enough to deal with most layouts. That said, the downside of Android is that if you have a “busy” design with video and moving graphics, it is going to struggle and you should opt for the Windows player. You should also note that with Contribute Signage, if you are looking for touch layouts then you need to choose the Windows player option.

Windows Player

Windows players to their advantage tend to be much more powerful than their Android cousins. If you are choosing a player from TouchIT Technologies, we run a Windows 10 OS, 64GB HD, 4GB RAM with an Intel Aton x5 Z8350 Processor. Whilst being well priced, it also packs a decent punch when it comes to your “busy” layouts as we have described above. If you are looping video, having scrolling RSS feeds as well as image and text sliders, then the Windows box is for you. We are also aware that many network admins do prefer the flexibility that Windows offers when sitting on a network as is preferred over the somewhat cheaper Android box.
