We need to open our layout that is in the Create Signage section of the portal.
Click on the pen icon next to the “TouchIT Training” name in the list or on the name you chose if you have used a different name for your layout.
The layout with the widgets you have previously added will be displayed. We are going to start by adding the TouchIT Logo from our media gallery into the layout. Click on the “image” icon and then click once on the TouchIT Logo, it will be added to your canvas. Using the “red dots” that are around your logo, you can resize and move it onto position. Add it to the top centre of the screen.
Now that we have our logo in the correct place, it is a good idea to lock it so we dont move it by mistake. To do that, with the logo selected as above, click on the padlock icon on the toolbar. This will lock your logo and you cant move it. To move it again, click on the padlock a second time. Let’s leave it locked before we move onto the next section.
Now we are going to add the coloured borders to the the TouchIT Logo. To do this, we are going to need the line drawing too. Click on the drawing tool, the choose Start Drawing Line.
Now you want to change the size to “33” with the scroll bar, and we also one to change the color of our line. To get the exact blue we want, we are going to use the eyedropper tool. Click on the black line to bring up the color options. Then click on the eyedropper icon. Then, from the TouchIT Logo, select the blue color.
Now draw a line across the top of the page. It is an object so you can move it around but remember to click stop drawing before you do that or you will create more unwanted lines. If this does happen. Select the “stop drawing button” then select the unwanted line, and click on the trash icon to delete it. Now, repeat this process and draw a red line selecting the exact red in the same way from the TouchIT Logo. Your lines are objects, so once you have stopped drawing, you can move and resize the lines. Your layout should now look like the image below – a log and two border lines.
Now we are going to add the video of the lady giving us the thumbs up to our layout. Click on the Video icon and the click on the lady. You will see that she is added to the canvas. Now move her into position and resize her. You will see that the bounding box is too big and overlaps the red line.
We’re going to use the layers tool to move the video to the back of the canvas. Simple click on the send backwards icon and the vide will drop behind the line. Its good practice to lock the video in place too so go ahead and do that as you did before with the padlock icon.
Let’s now save our layout by clicking on the save icon and we will complete it in tomorrow’s session.
